Why?
When you leave tertiary education (it will happen!) and starting on the ladder of success (generally on the bottom rung), then displaying the qualities of leadership gets you ahead of your peers.

What is it?
The City and Guilds COMEC Leadership Award is a distinguished qualification which is broadly recognised in the civilian world. It is equivalent to an NVQ Level 3.

The OTC Connection.
Many employers now recognise the value of the training that University Officer Training Corps provide. Consequently, a partnership has been formed between COMEC and City and Guilds to provide Officer Cadets with a civilian leadership qualification whilst in the OTC.
Gaining this qualification proves to an employer that you have completed formal training in leadership and have management potential (...............get ahead and stay ahead).

How?
By joining the OTC, completing Military Training Qualifications 1 and 2 and gaining a recommendation by the Commanding Officer. If you complete a year of relevant work after graduation, you then become eligible for Licentiateship (equivalent to NVQ Level 4). Military Training Qualifications are modular and focus on basic infantry skills in your first year of studies and the development of sound leadership qualities in your 2nd year.

The leadership skills learnt and practiced during a variety of adventure training expeditions, exercises, sport and other challenging activities are easily transferable and in desperate need in the civilian job market.

A nominal fee of approx £23 (the cost of a good night out.........and maybe a kebab!)
